Every personal blog in history has opened with this exact post, and I’ve decided that’s charming rather than cliché. So: hello, world.
Why write at all
Two reasons, honestly.
First, I forget things. Not big things — the small, hard-won things. The config flag that saved a weekend, the book that rearranged how I think, the argument I lost and later realized was right. Writing it down somewhere permanent and public feels like paying rent on my own memory.
A blog is just a memory you can link to.
Second, writing is thinking. Every time I’ve believed I understood something and then tried to explain it, I found the holes. Publishing raises the stakes just enough to make the holes visible.
What to expect
- Technical notes — practical, tested, and short. If I couldn’t make it work, I won’t pretend I did.
- Essays — slower pieces about building things, tools, and craft.
- Everything else — because a blog that only has one kind of post is a documentation site.
A small promise
I will publish imperfect posts rather than hoard perfect drafts. That’s the whole strategy. See you around.
